1st Grade Field Trip to LCHS CTAE Class

First grade students from Cottrell Elementary School participated in a hands-on field trip to Lumpkin County High School where they explored agriculture, culinary arts, carpentry, technology, and other career pathways through interactive learning stations that supported Georgia science, social studies, and CTAE standards.

This field trip provided approximately 110 first grade students from Cottrell Elementary School with a hands-on learning experience connected to the first grade curriculum and the Georgia CTAE Elementary standards. Students visited Lumpkin County High School on April 16, 2026, where they participated in interactive learning rotations focused on agriculture, culinary arts, carpentry, music, computer science, and brief presentations from welding, automotive, printing, and healthcare programs.

Throughout the rotations, students explored animal care in the Ag Barn, prepared a kid-safe healthy snack, built a small birdhouse, and learned about various career pathways. The activities supported first grade science and social studies standards by helping students observe how plants and animals survive and understand the roles of community members and careers.

The experience encouraged curiosity, real-world learning, and cooperative social interaction outside the classroom. After completing the rotations, students walked to the pavilion at Cottrell Field where they ate lunch and participated in organized games led by the high school Team Sports class.
