LCMS Hunger Games
The project brought themes from The Hunger Games novel to life through a series of hands-on stations and team challenges that promoted critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Over 260 kids participated in our Hunger Games Day! The students rotated to different training sites competing with one another and other team buildings. For example, the 200 building students went to a conference room in the Gold Mine to make their own Hunger Games rally towels. The students designed their own rally towels to represent themselves in the Hunger Games Day just like Katniss does with the symbol of the Mockingjay. Next, the students went to the pit area where they worked on their hand-eye coordination, freeze tag skills, and what it would be like to "carry an injured ally" in the Hunger Games. The next training station was the football field where students completed a practice target throwing with frisbees, agility training with ladders and tunnels and had a competition of what it would be like to race for food like they do in the Cornucopia. Finally, all the students battled with a tug of war to represent the true winner of the Hunger Games.
