LEGO League

Student teams explored real-world problems, designed innovative solutions, and built and programmed LEGO robots to complete missions using coding and engineering skills while preparing for regional and state competitions.

The 2025-2026 FIRST LEGO League season saw Lumpkin County Middle School elevate its robotics program by competing at the prestigious Fulton County Regional Qualifier. Facing off against specialized STEM magnet schools and academies, the program's three teams—Lumpkin County 4-H, Ctrl-Alt-Defeat, and Code Rush—navigated the "UNEARTHED" challenge with a blend of technical skill and high-pressure resilience. The season was highlighted by the Lumpkin County 4-H team securing the Innovation Award for their tech-driven archaeological solutions, while the other teams made significant strides in complex coding, iterative robot design, and high-efficiency Spike Prime programming.

Despite competing against programs with daily robotics curriculums, the Lumpkin students bridged the gap through sheer determination and after-school grit. They successfully learned to pivot under pressure, defend their engineering choices to industry professionals, and maintain a collaborative "tribe" spirit that transcended individual team lines. Ultimately, the season served as a powerful demonstration that Lumpkin County students possessed the talent and "want-to" necessary to compete alongside the most advanced STEM programs in the state of Georgia.
